Example Ceremony Scripts

The wedding ceremony script is an outline for what will be said and by who during the ceremony. Once you have an outline and decide on how the ceremony will be structured you can start to assign specific readings, vows, and other elements you would like to have. One of the most important things to remember when starting to create your wedding script is to pick out what parts are most important to you and your partner and then work around those areas until you have built out an entire script.

We have broken down some sample scripts for you below, based on the type of ceremony you are planning.

Many civil ceremonies  are couples who  want to have their marriage  license signed and be legally married. Just as often, couples do want to have something meaningful in their vows, but do not want a lenghty ceremony.

One of the great advantages of an elopement ceremony is there is no audience to please. The officiant doesn't need to welcome the couple's friends and family members to the occasion or provide a narrative of the couple's background and love story. There is no need to include a prayer or ritual just to please a family member. In short, the couple can choose everything in the ceremony based on what is meaningful to them.

Traditionally, a wedding script begins with the officiant seating the guests and thanking them for bearing witness to the marriage of the couple. While religious ceremonies may begin with a bible verse or another custom, a more modern approach may start the ceremony with a story of the couple.
